Dear Shiplovers,
I am sorry I am not communicating in German.
Please, be so kind, as to let me know if you know on the recent accident of chemical tanker Antracyth.
What exactly happened, where and when?
I only know the following:
- Antracyth recently arrived to Gdynia, Poland, with left anchor missing,
- it seems Antracyth probably lost its anchor a few days before when it was in Germany
- the accident was PROBABLY emergency stopping (but I am not sure)
- the accident PROBABLY took place, when the pilot was onbaord, so I suppose it was in port or in some waterway (channel)...
Regards,
Peter

Many German shipowners and operators have been in the past and/or are are still owning/operating Polish built ships.
Any information, stories, reports, ship plans and shipowners' data sheets / leaflets with descriptions of ships, photographs of Polish built ships will be much appreciated.

Re: Question - Antracyth accident (lost anchor) (in Germany?)
In this regard it may be interesting, that also the "HAM 316" lost an anchor at Medem Roads while dredging on the Elbe on Apr 18, 2010. Connected to the anchor were 5 shackels chain (1 shackle = 27,432 m). The Cuxhaven-based tug "Wulf 7" (IMO: 9360582) on Apr 20 was fitted out to raise the lost anchor gear with a weight of on the whole 21 tons. After the anchor was successfully raised, it was lifted onto a truck of the Plambeck company and transported to Empting where it is to be re-united with the "HAM 316" which actually remains berthed at Cuxhaven. The "Wulf" then started a search for the lost "QAntracyth"-anchor off Otterndorf but was only able to recover a chain on Apr 22. Photos of the operation may be found on www.cux-hafen.de
