Der Kapitän nahm den Berichten zufolge eine falsche Route, die nur für Wassersportler, nicht aber für ein so große Schiffe ausgewiesen ist wie das seine.


Tja, in Newcastle erzählte mal ein Lotse, für den Aufbau einer Brücke sei von akamemischen Gutachtern mit den Methoden der mathematischen Statistik der November als ungefährlichster Monat nachgewiesen worden. Alle Einreden ortsansässiger Fischer und Seeleute, gerade dieser Monat zeichne sich aber durch unbeständiges Wetter mit Starkböen und Stürmen aus, wurden weggewischt. Die Brücke stürzte natürlich prompt ein - irgendwas scheint trotz Bachelor nicht so ganz zu stimmen.

am 23. Januar setzte die Svendborg einen Notruf ab. Standort war mitten auf dem Atlantik - kein guter Ort, in Seenot zu geraten. Letztes AIS-signal ist vom 18. Januar, die Ankunft in Französisch Guayana war für den 29. Januar geplant. Das Schiff hat einen deutschen Eigner. Weiß jemand Näheres?

Ferry Sinks Off Papua New Guinea With 350 Aboard

PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea (AP) — Rescuers have plucked more than 200 survivors from the sea off Papua New Guinea's east coast after a ferry sank Thursday with as many as 350 people on board, officials said.

An airplane from Australia, three helicopters and eight ships were scouring the search area after the MV Rabaul Queen went down while traveling from Kimbe on the island of New Britain to coastal town of Lae on the main island, Australian Maritime Safety Authority said in a statement.

The Australian maritime agency initially detected the ferry's distress beacon and alerted the PNG Maritime Rescue Coordination Center, which is coordinating the rescue effort. The Australian statement said 219 survivors had been recovered by five ships by late Thursday.

It said 350 people were believed to be on board, but Papua New Guinea's National Maritime Safety Authority (NMSA) rescue co-ordinator Captain Nurur Rahman said the true figure was likely lower.

"I cannot confirm or deny the 350 missing number. It is hearsay," Rahman said. "I have not seen the manifest as yet, but it is likely around 300."

The operators, Star Ships, said it lost contact at about 6 AM on Thursday (local time) while sailing between Kimbe and Lae in the eastern part of the Pacific nation after a distress signal was sent by the ship.

PNG’s National Maritime Safety Authority (NMSA) said the ship had capsized but it was awaiting more details from officials on the site.
